Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

We are looking to appoint an ELSA to work alongside our teaching staff to lead interventions and support for children with SEND, attachment and trauma difficulties.

The post involves working across our school and pre-school and our partner school, Thistly Meadow and travelling between the two sites.

This is a key post in our school which is centred around supporting children to understand and regulate their own emotions whilst also respecting the feelings of those around them.

It would be beneficial to be ELSA trained with significant experience working with children with SEND and behavioural issues. It is expected that a successful candidate without an ELSA qualification will complete the qualification during the next round in the new academic year 2022-23. Training will be funded under the school’s Continuing Professional Development Policy Learning Agreement. Accreditation must be maintained by termly meetings with our nominated Educational Psychologist.

The hours of work are 8.45am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days) a total of 28.75 hours per week.

 - To have a good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate strategies to support pupils

 - To have knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs, that affect children and young people’s development

 - Excellent listening skills

 - An ability to build strong, trusting relationships

 - To be resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning /activities

 - Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in the learning and social skills activities

 - To use positive and personalised anxiety management strategies

We are looking for someone who has:

 - Experience of working in a primary school

 - Experience of working with pupils with SEND, particularly those with autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and social and emotional needs

 - Experience of supporting children with their personal care

 - A caring and nurturing nature

 - Enthusiasm and motivation

 - Who works in partnership with teachers and parents and

 - A flexible approach to meet the needs of the school

Class Teacher

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated class teacher who is committed to excellence and high standards in all aspects of school life.

We require a Key Stage 2 Teacher, main pay scale from August 24th 2022.

Early Years Assistant 

We have a vacancy for a professional, enthusiastic and caring person  to join our current team in our pre-school. We aim for our children to leave pre-school ‘school ready’ and with a strong base upon which to continue their education journey.

The pre-school is based in a fantastic new purpose built unit next to the Reception base on the main school site. We have a smaller and nurturing nursery room for 2-3 year olds and larger pre-school room for 3-4 year olds.

Hours of work:

We are open from 7.45am to - 6pm, and are looking to fill the following posts:

1. Half day from 12 - 6pm Monday to Friday (30 hours per week).

2. After school club 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, with 1pm to 6pm one afternoon, to be agreed (17 hours per week).

Both posts are permanent and all year round, with 24 days annual leave (part of which must be taken during the school Christmas break when the pre-school is shut) plus Bank Holidays.

Salary:

 LCC range Grade 4 - 7 salary £9.79 - £10.81 per hour (£18.891 - £20,856 pro-rata for part time employees) dependant on experience.

We are looking for someone with:

 - a relevant qualification, ideally, an NVQ level 3 in Early Years childcare, or equivalent. Applications will be considered from candidates who have a level 2 qualification or experience working with children and wish to develop their skills

 - experience of working as part of a team within a pre-school/nursery setting

 - a positive, hardworking and "can do" attitude

 - sound experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and are able to contribute to planning, observations and reports

 - be able to provide a safe, stimulating environment for all children
